Paired sculptures Horse Tamers or Marley Horses. Marble sculptural group Horse Tamers was created in 1740-1745. Guillaume Coustou the Elder (Guillaume Coustou I, 1677-1746) - a famous French sculptor of the first half of the 18th century, who worked on the decoration of the palaces and parks of Versailles, Marly, Tuileries and Trianon. The sculptures were commissioned by Louis XV from Carrara marble to decorate the terrace of the castle of Marly in the suburbs of Paris. Fed up with tense official images, the royal administration commissioned the sculptor to depict figures of naked youths restraining rearing horses. Provenance: Photo archive of a private collection. The sculptures were part of a private collection located in the Liechtenstein Palace. Stadtpalais Wien, Schloss Vaduz, Liechtenstein, 1945.

Refined and rare silver erotic music box for cigarettes. The case with the mechanism compartment opens like a golden cigarette tray. Underneath, on a hinge, is a moving erotic scene depicting an 18th century couple. Love joys to music take place against the background of a pastoral landscape flanked by a palace extension and a triumphal arch. 800 Italian silver. The manufacturers brand is hidden. Openwork silver cup holder of the second Rococo with a glass, Carl Gustav Ekqvist, 1851. From the base of the cup holder, ivy grows an ornate shoot-handle. Its playful mood is transmitted to the glass inserted in the cupholder. The pink color of the glass suggests a more fun pastime than a tea ceremony.Hallmarks: 84, letters CGE corresponding to silver cases to the master Carl Gustav Ekqvist, assay mark 1851 poorly readable initials of the assay master. Total weight: 190 gr. N-10.5cm.
