Gold snuff box, by Charles Colin, Hanau, circa 1830

This exquisite gold snuff box is an example of outstanding jewellery art of the second quarter of the 19th century. The product was made in the form of a cartouche by master Charles Colin of the jewellery company «Charles Colins Söhne», one of the leading firms of that time. The surface of the snuff box is covered with elegant engraving and carving on gold, which emphasizes the craftsmanship of the creator and attention to detail. The lid and the back of the product are decorated with the guilloche technique, which gives the surface a special play of light and texture. In the center of the lid there is a cartouche with a floral ornament, surrounded by a scroll frieze, creating a sense of harmony and completeness of the composition. The embossed frame of flowers and foliage complements the decorative design of the snuff box, emphasizing its refined aesthetics. The product has hallmarks: the letters «CCS» in a rhombus, corresponding to the goldsmith Charles Colin, as well as the hallmark «HANAU», indicating the place of manufacture. The snuffbox measures 2.8 x 6.7 x 4.5 cm and weighs 64.9 g.Historical background: The jewellery company Charles Colins Söhne, founded in Hanau, was one of the leading family firms specialising in the production of gold jewellery in the 19th century. The high quality of its products was repeatedly recognised by the royal courts of Europe, which commissioned items for state gifts during diplomatic visits. The southern German city of Hanau was famous in the second half of the 18th century as one of the main centres for the production of small jewellery items (Galanteriewaren), the quality of which was so high that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe noted that it was superior to the quality of items created in Geneva or Paris at that time.

Icon of the Lord Pantocrator in a gilded silver frame with enamels. Russia. Moscow, 1891

Icon of the Lord Pantocrator, made in 1891 in Moscow. The icon shows a half-length image of the Lord Pantocrator in traditional iconography: with an open book in his left hand and a blessing gesture of his right hand. The image was painted by a professional master in the academic style typical of Moscow workshops of the late 19th century. The silver gilded frame is decorated with shining enamels on the crowns, fields and corners, emphasizing the high artistic level of the icon. The icon is a striking example of the neo-Russian style, combining the features of historicism and modernism in Russian art at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. Hallmarks: silversmith`s marks in Cyrillic AM, presumably Mukhin Alexander Alekseevich, hallmarks of the Moscow assayer - Oleks Lev Fedorovich - initials L.O - 1891. Dimensions: 27x22.5 cm. Historical background: Mukhin Alexander Alekseevich - owner of a silver products factory in the 2nd half of the 19th century. In 1879 there were 12 workers. He made 100 pounds of various silver items, totaling 112,000 rubles. Including salt shakers, gospel frames, church utensils.

Large salon vase with flowers. Ernst August Leuteritz. Meissen 19th century

The large salon vase was created according to the model of Ernst August Leuteritz between 1860 and 1863 and is an outstanding example of Meissen porcelain of the late 19th century. The vase is made of two parts and is distinguished by its refined shape, reminiscent of a baluster with a fluted round foot and high curled handles. The elegant relief decor includes acanthus leaves, ornamental friezes and a sculpted pearl strip, giving the product a majestic and noble appearance. The main background of the vase is painted in a rich royal cobalt color, which effectively contrasts with the polychrome overglaze painting. On both sides of the body of the vase are depicted detailed bouquets of roses and chrysanthemums, executed with a high degree of skill. The rich gold trim and fine edging emphasise the sophistication and luxury of this work of art. The top of the vase bears an underglaze blue mark and a first-class mark, confirming the highest quality of production at the Meissen manufactory. The mark dates back to the period 1860-1924, which attests to the significant collectible value of this piece. References: Bergmann, Meissener Figuren, supplementary volume, p. 56, fig. 2100.
