The porcelain manufactory of the peasant Safronov was founded in 1814 and existed as an independent brand until the 1850s, when it was incorporated into the Kuznetsov empire. A small production on Gzhel clays did not exceed 30 people and during its formation was distinguished by eclectic imitation of the Popov and Gardner factories. The originality of the peasant taste at first mixed oriental, classical, baroque motifs into a whimsical, unlike anything else. Probably at the same time a "C" shaped marking appears in the dough, so similar to Gardner′s early markings. But soon the products of the factory acquire clarity of form and style; preserve the quality of the mass, and the murals that were noted at the Moscow Manufacturing Exhibition in 1835. The products of the plant, with equal success, were presented: classical motives, forms and paintings of the second baroque as well as awakening neo-gothic. Due to the limited edition and short period of existence, the products of the Safronov factory are especially appreciated in the museum and collection environment.
But that′s not all. As an epilogue: after some time, M.S. Kuznetsov moved equipment and production from the village of Korotkaya to the neighboring village of Dulevo, where Safronov′s old equipment served as the beginning of a new tradition that continues to this day.
