Kubachi metalworking is a traditional Dagestan art craft.
According to historical data, Kubachi has been a goldsmiths′ aul for many centuries - a leading metalworking center. According to legend, the helmet of Alexander the Great, the shield of Alexander Nevsky and the sword of the Russian prince Mstislav were forged here. Already in the 19th century, Kubachi was recognized by connoisseurs of weapons and jewelry as the largest center for their manufacture in the Caucasus.
And after the formation of the USSR, the Kubachin people did not lose their talent, skills and secrets and continued their work within the framework of the jewelry artel, organized in 1924. In 1960, the artel was transformed into the Kubachinsky Artistic Combine (KHK), which naturally became the leading enterprise in Dagestan for the production of folk art products.
